Our Churches offer not only a beautiful and traditional setting for your wedding but the context to bring God into the start of your marriage. If you live within the parishes, or live outside the parish but worship there regularly, you can be married at in the church. If you live outside the parish, there may be qualifying connections that will allow us to hold your wedding there. These include previous connections, regular worship in the past or family connections. In all cases these should be discussed with the Vicar.

Prior to the ceremony the Vicar will meet with each couple to prepare for the marriage ahead. Normally this will involve two or three meetings and these will address topics to help understand the meaning of marriage. As well as going through the practical arrangements such as music, flowers, readings and hymns we’ll also explore what a Christian understanding of marriage is and how this can be lived out to the full. Some of these sessions will be just for you with a member of the clergy so we can focus on your particular arrangements but a few months before you marry, we’ll also invite you to wedding preparation alongside some other couples getting married at a similar time. A couple of days before the big day we’ll also have a rehearsal in church so we can have a practice walking up the aisle and saying the vows to alleviate some of those nerves!

The Church of England has a very informative website just about weddings in church.

We always enjoy weddings and we’d love to explore this with you if you’re thinking about getting married. Please get in touch with us first before booking a reception venue or making any of the other plans, so that we can make sure that the date and time you want is available.

We can offer weddings on any day of the week, except Sundays, and we can discuss the best time for the service to suit you and to fit in with the other plans you have for the day.
